History of the Arlington-Grand Prairie (TX) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc

The initial vision of Arlington-Grand Prairie Alumni Chapter started around September 1985. Four instrumental brothers, Wallace “ Blinky “ Williams*, Reginald Major, Derek Brown*, and Duane Braxton, formed an interest group. Their hard work and perseverance paid off as they were able to formulate the interest of the following 23 Brothers:

Gary Bailey, Raymond Dukes, Kelvin Ellison, Londell Fisher*, Richard Garling, Gary Lewis, Joseph W. Loftin, Jr., Stanley Manners, Richard Massie, Chris Middleton, Ross Moore, Clifton Odom, Odus Oglesby, Lenzy Pouncey, Jr., William C. Sells, Martin L. Thomas, Clifton Walker, Jeffrey Wilborn, Byron K. Williams, Bruce A. Williams, Don Carter and Leroy Williams.

On August 10, 1986, these 27 Brothers received approval from the Grand Board of Directors to establish the Arlington-Grand Prairie (AGP) Alumni Chapter. On October 25, 1986, Arlington-Grand Prairie Alumni Chapter was chartered. The formal installation ceremony was held at the University of Texas at Arlington in the Grand Ballroom. Southwestern Province Polemarch, James C. Mitchell presided over the Chartering Ceremony.

Since being charted by twenty-six brothers on October 25, 1986, the Arlington-Grand Prairie Alumni Chapter has become the preeminent and trailblazing chapter in the DFW Metroplex. It now boasts a membership of 109 Brothers. AGP provides leadership in the community through its Guide Right Foundation, which includes the Annual Metroplex Beautillion Presentation, Adopt-A-School program, Kappa League and annual support of Kappa Kamp. The chapter has a subsidiary agent for its Guide Right Programs, called the Arlington-Grand Prairie Guide Right Foundation, Inc.
