About AGP

The initial vision of Arlington-Grand Prairie Alumni Chapter started around September 1985. Four instrumental brothers, Wallace “ Blinky “ Williams*, Reginald Major, Derek Brown*, and Duane Braxton, formed an interest group. Their hard work and perseverance paid off as they were able to formulate the interest of the following 22 Brothers: Gary Bailey, Raymond Dukes, Kelvin Ellison, Londell Fisher*, Richard Garling, Gary Lewis, Joseph W. Loftin, Jr., Stanley Manners, Richard Massie, Chris Middleton, Ross Moore, Clifton Odom, Odus Oglesby, Lenzy Pouncey, Jr., William C. Sells, Martin L. Thomas, Clifton Walker, Jeffrey Wilborn, Byron K. Williams, Bruce A. Williams, and Leroy Williams.


On August 10, 1986, these 26 Brothers received approval from the Grand Board of Directors to establish the Arlington-Grand Prairie (AGP) Alumni Chapter. On October 25, 1986, Arlington-Grand Prairie Alumni Chapter was chartered. The formal installation ceremony was held at the University of Texas at Arlington in the Grand Ballroom. Southwestern Province Polemarch, James C. Mitchell presided over the Chartering Ceremony. The key chartering officers were:

Currently, the preeminent chapter in the DFW Metroplex bolsters a membership of 40 Brothers. AGP provides leadership in the community through its Annual Metroplex Beautillion Presentation, Adopt-A-School, Aids Outreach Support, Kappa League, Kappa Kamp, Feeding the Homeless, Holiday Food Baskets, Mentoring Programs, and more. The members of the Arlington-Grand Prairie Alumni chapter have a very diverse membership. Within our ranks are lawyers, police officers of all ranks, teachers, bankers, administrators, entrepreneurs, businessmen, technical consultants, information systems support, real estate agents, and husbands and fathers, just to name a few. The AGP Alumni is the sponsoring alumni chapter for the Iota Alpha undergraduate chapter at the University of Texas at Arlington.


AGP Alumni Chapter has Life Member Status with the NAACP. The chapter is a member of the Tarrant County Pan –Hellenic Council. The chapter has a subsidiary agent for its Guide Right Programs, the Arlington-Grand Prairie Guide Right Foundation, Inc. The Foundation is also a 501©3 Organization.


The Arlington-Grand Prairie Chapter was the Alumni Host for the 66th Southwestern Province. The Province was held April 3 – 7, 2002 at Hyatt Regency DFW, DFW International Airport, DFW Airport, Texas. The Undergraduate host was Kappa Epsilon Chapter at Texas Christian University.
